Catholic Charities respects the life of the mother and child. We provide pro-life assistance for crisis pregnancies by helping birth parents create an adoption or parenting plan.

The recent expose on Planned Parenthood’s inhumane treatment of young lives once again demonstrates its lack of respect and care for the woman and her unborn child. This commodification reduces mother and child to a profitable sum of their parts, instead of the child of God that we know them to be.

Where is the dignity and respect of the unborn? Where is the care for women, their emotional health, their souls?

At Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington, we promote the respect and dignity of every human life from the moment of conception through natural death. Each client is seen as a child of God created in His image and likeness. It is the opposite of Planned Parenthood.

“Even the weakest and most vulnerable, the sick, the old, the unborn and the poor, are masterpieces of God’s creation, made in his own image, destined to live for ever, and deserving of the utmost reverence and respect.” -Pope Francis

We care deeply about our clients and choose to journey alongside them with a compassionate model of care. Our clients are not just a case number, but rather a valued and respected individual.

Our Pregnancy and Adoption Support program respects the woman and child by providing alternatives to abortion and caring, professional support through every step of the journey. In 2014, Catholic Charities placed 23 children with loving families and provided counseling and support to 744 people touched by adoption or a crisis pregnancy.

Abortion can harm women physically, psychologically, relationally and culturally. Therefore, we assist women with pro-life options: the creation of an adoption or parenting plan for their child.

The crisis of an unintended pregnancy can be lonely and scary. Our counselors walk alongside the birth parents to make a pro-life decision that is best for them and their child.

Children are placed in loving, adoptive families – often times chosen by the birth parents.

We have a birth parent support group for parents who have made an adoption plan for their child – no matter how long ago. Led by a professional counselor, these monthly meetings provide healing, support and a sense of community.

“The Catholic Charities office is a safe place to cry and know everything is in confidence,” she said. “To have that support, it means the world to me.” -a Mother who made an adoption plan for her son nine years ago and attends our support group

We work closely with Project Rachel, a post-abortion healing ministry in the Diocese of Arlington, for anyone seeking healing after abortion.

We believe that these options greatly surpass anything Planned Parenthood has to offer because of our fundamental respect for life – a beautiful gift from God where each and every person is deeply loved, valued and cherished.
