A stranger and you welcomed me,

naked and you clothed me.

(Matthew 25: 36)

Meet this wonderful Christ House Volunteer!

A joyful Peter Kilcullen sorts through hangers in the Christ House Thrift Shop.

Peter Kilcullen has been volunteering at Christ House for 10 years! In retirement, he had a desire to help a worthy cause and chose Christ House as an avenue to reach those in need.

“I love seeing the customers and emergency assistance clients and making them laugh!”

Peter embodies CCDA’s mission to demonstrate dignity and respect to  those in need. His warm-heartedness and energy are evident when he listens to and cares for those he encounters.

“One day, a young man came in looking to buy a suit for his first job interview.  It reminded me of the time my father helped me buy my first suit.  We had fun fitting him up, teaching him about fit of the suit and showing him what looked right.  He was so grateful for the help.  The smile on his face at the end was more than any “thanks” I could have imagined.  I am sure he had a great job interview.”

Christ House Thrift Shop is so grateful for the dedication and compassion that Peter brings to those we serve.

Thank you, Peter!

Donations and volunteers needed!

The Thrift Shop welcomes donations of clothing, handbags and shoes but is also accepting donations of antiques, collectibles, housewares, jewelry, and small pieces of furniture such as plant stands, accent tables and chairs. Please drop off donations from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 125 S. West Street in Alexandria.

We need volunteers to clean and organize the thrift store. Please email Sister Annie at AJuan@ccda.net for more information on volunteering.
